Episode 4 - Letting go...and then tightening up!

Hi there readers,
I wanted to start off this month by saying thank you in advance for reading my blogs - it means a lot to know that people are interested in my story, and acts as one of the drivers pushing me forward on my weight loss journey. To be honest, this journey is about so much more than just the weight loss - it's been about exploring the past, imagining the future, and helping others along the way.

I mentioned last month I would tell you more about my book! At present, it's not in any imaginable book format - more a folder of WORD documents; not in any particular order!
I met a friend of a friend last month - who could possibly change my life. I realise that's quite a dramatic statement - but writing this book will be the strongest thing I have ever done - and whether anyone reads it or not doesn't matter as much as the fact I've written it and put my story out there. This friend (not named yet) has very kindly offered - after some reminiscing (it turns out she was a relative's guardian angel many years ago!)to help me pull the book together.
I've also met with family this month - and let them know that what comes out in the book may be painful for all involved; and that needs to be out there before I continue writing.
Enough of the gloom and doom - the book is going well; I'm exploring my attachment to food and looking at how food has shaped (excuse the pun!) my life till last November. It will also then go onto to look at how a change in mindset changed the attachment to something very positive. I'm learning now to enjoy food for what it is - a colourful mix of tastes, smells, and textures.....

So, that's the news on the book for now. The other thing I wanted to talk to you about this month is exercise.

I would not have been able to lose weight, tone up, and change my outlook on life - had it not been for combining the diet with a regular exercise programme.

My personal trainer is a killer!! Although I keep going back.... Whether it is his background (Thai Boxing), or his education in the fitness field that enables him to motivate me - I don't know. What I do know is that I actually look forward to going to the gym 5 times a week now! I meet with my trainer 3 times a week and then exercise on cardio twice a week.
Serious weight loss isn't possible without combining it with exercise. As Simon Lovell says in his book, 'The Lunch Box Diet' - "One pound of body weight is more or less equivalent to 3500 calories....reduce your energy intake by 500 calories a day or burn an additional 500 calories (about a 40minute jog/run on the treadmill) you should theoretically lose a pound a week."

Please don't think I'm preaching here - I'm not telling people what to do - I'm just letting you know what works for me. Using the Lunch Box Diet, eating other sensible meals with high protein content and low GI index foods, and adding to that a vigorous exercise programme has seen me lose almost 3 stone to date; and drop 20 inches from my body. I've dropped almost 4 dress sizes!!

So that's it from me this month - thanks for reading. Next month I'll some more news on all fronts and will be posting some new pics....so keep an eye out.
Let's meet up mid May.....

Lyn
